PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This is a specialised role in our fitting department where the employee will operate and utilize the manufacturing machines and equipment to do specialized fitting of frames according to the requirements and prescriptions received from customers.
The successful candidate must be focused on delivering Rx orders within the 24 hour customer delivery framework and must be willing to work shifts as per the work schedule.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
Mounting of frames which will include (but not limited to) the following :
Manual and automated blocking
Lens Edging (Automated and Manually)
Rimless drilling & milling
Hand Finishing and fitting of :
Full rim metal / plastic frames
Supra / Nylon frames
Specialized frames such as horn, Precious metal, Wooden and other niche brand designs
Following the design parameters and assembly instructions from the different frame suppliers
Requirements for consumable replenishments are reported to team leader or managers when required
Pro-Actively managing and deal with process issues and reporting it to managers in a timely manner
Final verification of complete spectacles to the Hoya Standards
Mentoring and training peers and a willingness to share your knowledge with them.
Ensuring that the working environment is clean and tidy , to reduce contamination and meet Health and Safety Objectives, influencing everyone within the workplace.
COMPETENCIES / SKILLS REQUIRED :
Educational background & Experience
Grade 12 Qualification
Basic Computer literacy in MS Office
At least 5 years' experience in optical manufacturing with special references to specialized frames
Beneficial edging experience on CNC Edging is Equipment is preferred
The ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing is a requirement
Attention to Detail
The ability to work under pressure and adapt is essential
Good Time Management Skills and able to work in a team
Good Literacy and numerical skills
Ability to organise work as it comes in and prioritizing is essential.
