Our client has opened an exciting new supermarket in the Chatsworth (Durban) area and is offering the right candidate who has a genuine passion for the retail space and is customer centric the reigns and autonomy to shine! JOB PURPOSE Achieving operational excellence within the store and it's departments as well as employee / staff monitoring and supervision, the meeting of monthly and annual sales targets.

To ensure health and safety compliance and efficiently deal with matters around security and shrinkage. The role is instrumental in the journey of customer experience and customer satisfaction.

Ensuring franchise success and driving competitive advantage. MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma in retail / finance management or related : preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Managerial role within food chain market stores
  • 7+ years in an FMCG / commercial / retail industry Experienced in
  • Demonstrated ability around cost, budget / money management, food saving etc
  • High attention to detail with pricing and stock control as well as maintenance of statistical and financial records
  • Solid experience in recruiting and training of personnel, staff supervision, promotion and disciplinary action
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation
  • Extensive merchandising experience in all of Fruit / Veg, Bakery, Meat, Deli (fast foods) departments
  • Meeting of sales targets

  • Flexibility to work shifts and weekends RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure smooth overall daily operations of the store and it's departments (Meat, grocery, vegetables, frozen foods, deli, fast foods, butchery, bakery etc)
  • Drive innovation around perishable wastage (i.e fresh produce that has expired or passed it's sell-by-date to be reused in alternative consumption products)
  • Customise competitive pricing on products
  • Employee / staff management and supervision
  • Community development - increase social footprint through the distribution of salvageable wastage
  • Hiring and training new employees
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety laws
  • Managing orders and vendor relationships
  • Administrative record keeping
  • Maintaining employee schedules and tracking inventory.
  • Boosting team morale
  • Enforcing best practice and supermarket policies
  • Meet business requirements by ensuring balance sheet and cash flow statements are in good financial health
  • Maintain budgets and expenses
  • Manage, control and track employee payroll
  • Conduct store tours to evaluate store conditions and react and implement timely solutions accordingly
  • Manage hiring process, personnel work schedules and attendance procedures.
  • Determine if inventory is sufficient for needs; ordering merchandise when necessary
  • Interact with vendors; prepare purchase orders; track status of requisitions and orders
  • Deal with customer queries and escalations on service, products and stock
  • Ensure compliance regulators i.e follow proper standards for product freshness, food safety, weights and measures, refrigeration and sanitation
  • Exceed the expectations of customers by ensuring a friendly and helpful environment
  • Study traffic patterns and surveyed consumers to assist in product placement and shopping preferences to increase overall sales volume
  • Organize store promotions and contests while intergrating all departments of the store
  • Consistently meet monthly and annual targets and budget expectations
  • Increase sales through the promotion of advertisement campaigns
  • Manage cash flow activities, including deposits, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll
