Management of day to day transactions and execution
Oversee the document process relating to a transaction by delegating work to the Managers (Associate and Analyst)
Manage expectations of Head : Principal Finance and clients in relations to delivery of various information and material.
Spend 80% of time on origination of new deals (revenue generation)
Strategically evaluate new business opportunities to ensure the right focus and energy is on the right clients.
Ensure deals are executed to the highest standard to mitigate Reputational, Market and Operational risks.
Complete final quality checks on work produced by the Senior and Middle Managers
During the course of the transaction identify opportunities and provide restructuring solutions for the client and the Bank.
Managing across all stages of transactions, including conception (pitching), execution, documentation and closing.
Fulfil the role of deal team lead during the end to end process of the transaction.
Use evaluative, analytical, interpretative and constructive thinking to determine the best possible solutions to new deals.
Present these solutions to senior stakeholders of clients.
Acquire direction from Head : Principal Finance as and when needed.
Fully accountable for the successful delivery of the transaction which is linked to critical financial, operational, regulatory and reputational risks.
Execute transactions in accordance with product approvals
Act as first line of contact with clients during transaction execution
Generate new ideas to solution the transactions
Be responsible for their own pitch books which will be used in pitches to clients.
Take on a project management role and ensure delivery of various projects simultaneously.
Oversee the various inputs required from other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery on transactions.
Responsible for originating and securing complex investment transactions related to equity or principal finance
Ensures that an end to end solution is provided to the client. Focus areas include equity or principal finance and balance sheet structuring.
Responsible for front-line business transactions which incorporate listings and company restructuring.
Negotiates deals with third parties and will present investment proposals to the investment committee.
Structure deals according to principal and structured finance principles.
Engage with Stakeholders
Work closely with others in Investment Banking to understand and articulate its history, investment strategy and process, market positioning and competitive advantages.
Stay current on Investment banking’s investment activity and performance across its various portfolios
Coordinate with other members of DLL, Corporate Finance, Client Coverage, investment professionals and fund accounting / operations teams to provide timely responses to client inquiries, relating to various topics such as views on the structuring of buy-outs, portfolio performance and compliance.
Create and maintain effective relationships and regular communications with portfolio management team to ensure investment product fluency and creditability with client base.
Create and maintain effective relationships and regular communications with Risk management team to ensure efficient risk management of transactions during the inception phase of a transaction as well as the ongoing management of the client once transaction is closed.
Engage with clients being CEO / CFO level all types of organisations, especially Holding Companies
Together with the Head : Principal Finance pitch solutions to clients and also individually as transaction leader.
Development of Managers (SVP’s, VP’s, Associates and Analysts)
Coach, mentor and oversee the SVP’s, VP’s and Associates
Focus on VP’s, associate and analyst career needs and goals
Assist in the development of a team that engages with broader civil society
Take ownership of team issues and develop solutions that can be work shopped with management
Assist in the career development and training of individuals in the team
Oversee the work of Senior Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents
Originate new Principal Finance transactions through own initiative, staying in contact with key clients, building new client relationships and staying on top of new developments in Principal Finance
Identify new opportunities during the course of transactions
Build relationships with external clients
Contribute substantially to the achievement of the business unit’s revenue targets.
Deliver smart and efficient structured solutions with a quick turnaround and flawless work.
Consistently deliver ideas and outputs of exceptional quality and technical accuracy.

Preferred Qualification and Experience Qualifications :
Post graduate qualification in Finance, Accounting, Law, TAX or Commerce, CA(SA).
More than 10 years' experience in Investment Banking;
7 - 10 years' experience in Risk Management.
