Sanlam Private Wealth is a Private Client business focused on crafting private client portfolios for discerning clients. The business has a wide range of services and products that combine to deliver a world-class value proposition to clients and business partners.

The business has over 50 client facing portfolio managers across 8 branches country wide working with both direct and intermediated clients.

The intermediary distribution channel is a key strategic channel for the business and covers both Sanlam tied agents as well as external independent and tied agency channels.

Sanlam Private Wealth is in the process of recruiting for a senior distribution support role that will be focused on co-ordinating and driving the sales strategy across the various branches.

The person will need to work closely with the Head of Product and Strategy and play a key linking role between the corporate office and the branches.

Key outcomes : To assist the Head of Product and Strategy with the implementation and execution of a co-ordinated sales strategy across the country via the regional branches.

The role will require the candidate to work closely with the various Sanlam Private Wealth branches, client facing portfolio managers, the investment team and marketing team in delivering a best in class intermediary value proposition.

The candidate will need to have strong relationship building skills with a keen knowledge of the investment markets and financial services industry.

A prerequisite will be an in-depth understanding of how a financial product and service provider fits into the value proposition of an intermediary.

The candidate will need to work closely with the other Sanlam businesses to understand the overall distribution footprint of Sanlam and how to optimise the positioning of the Sanlam Private Wealth value proposition in the various distribution channels and platforms. What will you do?

  • Manage and execute the delivery of the intermediary strategy throughout the business.
  • Manage and improve the tracking of new business
  • Conceptualize, develop and present new business opportunities across various Sanlam distribution channels including different product categories.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, intermediary practice management best practice and high level financial market trends;
  • Manage linking roles between various key stakeholders to formulate and ensure delivery of the overall intermediary strategy.
  • Reporting and administration :
  • Review and improve periodic reports to various stakeholders in the Sanlam Group
  • Liaise the Business Intelligence unit to develop and improve internal management reports to assess the performance of the strategy;
  • Assist with the quarterly feedback pack to intermediaries on the various SPW investment portfolios.

  • Qualification & experience

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree which includes quantitative or analytical subjects- with good strong academic results
  • A minimum of 5 years’ work experience (minimum of 3 years in a business development role or similar); with a strong working knowledge of investment products in the intermediary space
  • Strong track record of performance and delivery
  • Track record of working with senior managers across various business units
  • Strong Microsoft skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI
  • Current, relevant experience in business development in the retail investment space, preferably some private client experience
  • Knowledge and skills
