Solar Systems Engineer

Independent Power Utility / Renewable Energy Company in Sandton, is seeking to employ a Solar

Systems Engineer. Candidate is required to have a BSc / BEng or BTech : Electrical Engineering

qualification with 3-5 years’ experience in an Independent Power Producer (IPP) business who

develops power projects or an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) business. Candidate

will be required to design hybrid renewable and alternative energy systems, predict project costings,

technical and financial modelling as well as ensure that designed systems are robust in operation.

Technical knowledge and experience in renewable energy in Solar PV and Gas to Power is an

advantage.

Duties And Responsibilities

To design hybrid renewable and alternative energy systems

Predict project costings accurately

Technical and financial modelling

Ensure that designed systems are robust in operation

Keep up to date with new technological developments in the energy industry making sure

that the company remains at the forefront of innovative customised solutions to be offered

to clients.

Required Skills and Knowledge

BSc / BEng or BTech : Electrical Engineering qualification with 3 years’ experience in an

Independent Power Producer (IPP) business who develops power projects or an Engineering

Procurement and Construction (EPC) business.

Proficient in MS Office, Excel, AutoCAD, PVSyst, PVSol, Helioscope, ProfiCAD software

Must be eligible to register with the Engineering Council of South Africa

Strong communication and negotiation skills

Ability to think out of the box

Demonstrate work ethics that aligns to that of the company

Team player

The ability to work with multiple disciplines of projects

Excellent organisational, time management, leadership and decision-making skill
