About the Position

Project Officer Contract position

The National Research Foundation (NRF) supports and promotes research and human capital development through funding, the provision of National Research Facilities and science outreach platforms and programmes to the broader community in all fields of science and technology, including natural science, engineering, social science and humanities.

SAASTA is a rapidly growing and dynamic agency of the National Research Foundation (NRF) that supports and promotes the public understanding of and engagement in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) in South Africa.

SAASTA's Unit in Pretoria seeks to appoint a Project Officer on contract for a period of one year to assist with Administration of Harmony, Komatsu, Educator development, undergraduates and Mentoring and Coaching Programmes to run effectively and efficiently.

Key responsibilities will include :

  • Assist the coordinator in collection and capturing of data;
  • Assist the Project Coordinator with the analysis of data;
  • Assist the Project Coordinator with impact studies for the projects delegated to him;
  • Assist the Project Coordinator with quality assurance;
  • Assist the Project Coordinator in preparing information for reporting;
  • Ensure that the filing system of attendance registers is up to date;
  • Procure goods and services following the SCM and National Treasury rules;
  • Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders concerning project roll-out;
  • Assist the Project Coordinator project planning and execution; and

    Assist with ad hock projects.

    Candidates should have the following attributes :

    NQF level 6 in relevant field

    At least three - years project administration experience

    Driver's licence will be an added advantage

    Knowledge and experience of the office administration environment.

    Computer literacy organizational skills

    Attention to detail, communication and writing skills, and ability to work under pressure

    Ability to work individually and within the group
