Job Purpose

To use analytical techniques to understand the business area value chain; to use critical thinking to analyse and interpret business results and recommend innovative solutions or strategies that would improve business results.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide Management Insights and data to; optimise Technical Operations and delivery, drive reporting, mitigate key risks and enhance the client experience
  • To enable all levels of management to spot opportunities and detect any problems early.
  • To identify areas of inefficiencies and promote optimisation.
  • Manage performance of reports and hold the relevant teams accountable for managing the performance of their reports by implementing performance agreements and ensuring a clear vision.
  • Leverage and align to Group MI / Reporting capabilities
  • To optimise efficiency and embed correct values.
  • Integrate multiple data assets together to build out a PowerBI solution.
  • Produce Physical database model.
  • Produce a conceptual and logical model.
  • Candidate will interface between customers and the development team
  • Translate business questions into measurements
  • Create a Data Management repository that provides an efficient way to organise, store and analyse data with attention to confidentiality and easy retrieval
  • Minimum Experience Level

  • 8 years’ experience in Analytical / MIS role
  • 4 years’ experience in a team leader role in MIS
  • A sound knowledge of the Microsoft BI Full Stack with emphasis on Dimension Modelling, T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS Tabular with DAX experience.
  • Power Pivot / Power BI Desktop experience is an advantage.
  • SQL 2016 experience is essential, SQL 2017 and SQL 2019 is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the Power BI gateway and configuration in an advantage.
  • Previous experience providing BI reporting solutions as a data analyst.
  • Basic understanding of Big Data Storage / Processing tools, ETL and Data Warehousing.
  • BA skills required in terms of requirements elicitation.
  • Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Advanced Diplomas / National 1st Degrees
  • Preferred Certifications

    Skills (Technologies, systems or software knowledge etc.) :

  • Candidate must possess strong Tabular Modelling and PowerBI skills along with SQL
  • Comfortable with new and emerging technologies such as Azure and HDInsight.
  • Ability to translate business questions into measurements
  • Can design the Datamart for reporting
  • Ability to perform data discovery.
  • Ability to run JAD sessions.
  • Understanding of the two database methodologies (Kimball and Inman)
  • The ability to understand business questions / pain points and alleviate with supporting data.
  • Some creative / design skills are an advantage
  • BA skills required in terms of requirements elicitation.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong BI Developer with data analyst skills.
  • Strong data warehouse skills (DAMA)
