Offshore Data Centre (DC) Services Manager

Global IT Service Delivery (GITSD)

The Function

GITSD Infrastructure is responsible for the design, build and operation of shared IT infrastructure services including all shared and common Data Centre, Networks and End User Computing (EUC) services, policies and standards.

The function is comprised of central and regional delivery teams and significant supplier capabilities. It is closely with Global CTO and CISO and regional IT to develop and manage the shared Infrastructure portfolio and the development and management of global common Infrastructure standards, policies, tools and practices.

The Role

The GITSD ODC Services Manager is responsible for the operation and development of the global outsourced Data Center services underpinning globally shared and regionally operated infrastructure and applications services.

This is a global role operating in a multi-sourced, matrix organisation. The role reports to the GITSD Head of Shared Infrastructure Services and will work closely with the Global and Regional IT teams and Vendor Management.

The role will require flexibility in operating hours and international travel as needed to operate the service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effective management of the Offshore Datacentre Service ensuring performance, quality, security reliability and cost effectiveness.
  • Integration of the ODC service operations with the firm’s global and regional IT delivery teams to ensure effective end to end service operation
  • Work closely with IT leadership and Global Vendor Management (GVM) to ensure effective supplier management and relationships
  • Work with GITSD and GVM leadership to ensure effective and transparent governance and assurance including performance against KPI’s, SLA’s, contractual commitments and business expectations
  • Identify and drive continual service improvement initiatives with the supplier and internal teams including working closely with CTO to realise technology rationalisation benefits
  • Work closely with CISO function to support and own ODC related security initiatives to ensure service security is optimized and meets best practice ISO 27001 and the firms policy and controls
  • Drive alignment to IT strategy to build once, share by all’ service, process or technology
  • Support IT leadership in developing the internal market for shared services, identifying shared opportunities with the supplier and internally.
  • Provide regular reporting and communications to stakeholders and IT staff.
  • Ensure service is operating to scope and manage any required transition of services between the firm and the suppliers in collaboration with global vendor management and IT delivery teams
  • Skills and Experience Required :

  • Extensive experience of managing global IT Data Centre and technologies
  • Strong experience of transitioning global infrastructure services to an outsource provider
  • Proven experience of managing and significantly improving performance of global outsourced IT services
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to build and leverage strong relationships with 3rd parties
  • Strong ITIL-based service management experience
  • Strong planning, communications, and stakeholder management experience
  • Budgetary experience coupled with demonstrable commercial awareness
  • Experience of large scale infrastructure change, business change, integration or merger an advantage
  • Strong technical knowledge of all aspects of infrastructure engineering including : Wintel / Linux servers; backup / storage technologies;
  • converged systems; network ecosystems; enterprise security
