Cape Town - An exciting position is available in the company and team. The purpose of the role is to manage our data effectively, develop suitable statistical models and interpret the results as well as assist in the pricing of group insurance products.

Experience & Qualifications : A degree / relevant qualification in Data Science, Actuarial Science, IT or Statistics Proficiency in tools such as SQL, R, Python, VBA, Data Mining, Business Analytics, or similar scripting languages Exposure to predictive modelling including : Multivariate Regression, Logistic Regression, Bagging, Boosting, Decision Trees, and Time Series Analysis.

Responsibilities and work output : Develop innovative statistical models to manage and interpret our data Financial and statistical development using a range of platforms to adapt existing and new models, under the guidance of senior team members Set up databases to store our data and SQL to draw up reports to interpret and communicate the results Assist our quotes team with their pricing tool as well as day to day queries Write macros to automate key calculations and assist with pricing Interpret and document the key findings arising from various financial models Fundamental rethinking and redesign of business processes, to obtain sustained improvements in quality, cost, service, lead time, flexibility and innovation Collaborate with other analytical teams across the organization to encourage a useful exchange of information Collaborate with the IT and analytics team to ensure the integrity of our data Prepare modelling sign-off packs to both internal and external auditors Competencies required : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and quality orientation A passion for data and statistical modelling & machine learning Strong team player with the ability to work independently Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work accurately under pressure Good time management skills Self-starter and innovative
