Job description

Strika is looking for a talented graphic designer to join their team. This is a permanent position based at the studio in Woodstock, Cape Town.

The successful candidate will work with an award winning team primarily concerned with improving safety on mines and other industrial sites around the globe through better communications materials.

Strika create communications campaigns and training materials consisting of animated 2D videos, infographics, learning modules, explainer booklets, comic books and board games to name just a few.

The company excels at using visuals to explain complicated information to diverse audiences. People who excel in this role are those that enjoy engaging with a variety of topics and applying their skills to numerous visual tools.

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to) :

  • Content creation for print, digital, animation and social media platforms
  • Creation of design elements to be used for motion graphics
  • Content conceptualisation
  • Integration of design elements with illustrated content
  • Creation of monthly visual corporate communication tools; which include : newsletters, infographics, toolbox talks, posters

    The company has completed projects for government agencies, NPO’s and blue chip companies both locally and abroad. Strika is looking for a versatile designer to join the team.

    This is a permanent position based at Strika’s studio in Woodstock Cape Town.

    Skills and attributes :

  • Excellent Photoshop / Illustrator skills
  • Experience in both digital and print media
  • The ability to work on brand and within an established style
  • Task-driven with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • The ability to take initiative and problem solve
  • Able to seek out the information required to complete projects
  • Work well under pressure
  • Willing to go the extra mile and put in the hours to get the job done to a high standard
  • Keen eye for detail and excellent technical skills
  • Work well within a team and open to critical assessment of their work
  • Able to work in a range of styles according to a variety of client / project requirements
  • Software skills :

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Articulate or similar eLearning platform beneficial
  • Microsoft Office (basic)
