Time Type : Full Time Main Purpose of The Role : The Fleet Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating, and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of fleet vehicles.
Fleet manager also serves as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations. The Fleet manager will also be responsible for contractor management as well as cellular management.
Functions as advisor to unit and administration and sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results.
Analyzes and resolves problems through drawing from prior experiences. Interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge.
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of Organizational resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with Organization goals and objectives.
MinimumRequirements : 5 years minimum experience in Fleet Management. Electives : A strong financial understanding and experience with finances related to Fleet Management.
Working knowledge / experience in finance and operations within Fleet Management and logistics. Experience in / with the Motor industry.
A strong knowledge of motor vehicle servicing and maintenance. AARTO compliance. Vehicle tracking, driver scorecard management.
Procurement. Experience in creating and establishing fleet policies and procedures, from vehicle assignment to replacement cycling, from company use to accident reporting.
Experience in price, spec, and to purchase or lease vehicles. Understand and track total cost of ownership (TCO). Budgetary experience.
Negotiating skills. Qualifications : Matric (essential). Bachelors degree (advantageous). Computer packages : MS Work (Intermediate).
MS Excel (Intermediate). MS PowerPoint (Intermediate). Webcost (Intermediate). Fleet Management System (Intermediate). Duties andResponsibilities : Direct supervision and evaluating the work of employees as a first-line supervisor.
Fleet Manager is responsible in deciding whether a vehicle meets environmental standards, whether a vehicle should be assigned to better meet the needs of the Organization, whether a vehicle should be purchased, leased or disposed of.
Develops and administers vehicle / equipment asset management processes from procurement to disposition. Create vehicle purchase specifications and purchases vehicles.
Establish and monitor purchasing, operational and replacement strategies and practices for most cost-effective operation.
Oversees the on campus fueling stations. Reducing the Fleets carbon footprint and environmental impact. Responsible for all aspects of fleet maintenance and repair.
Ensure compliance with all road traffic laws, vehicle licensing and roadworthiness. Vehicle tracking monitoring and ensuring discipline is taken against offending drivers.
Fuel management with various suppliers. Fuel monitoring and discipline for over usage. Manages various fleet systems to keep the fleet running at optimum performance Reporting to senior management on costs, optimization, fleet numbers and other relevant stats pertaining to the fleet.
Vendor management with all suppliers Monthly SLA meetings with suppliers and ensuring that all agreed SLAs are met. Ongoing cost savings initiatives related to fleet.
Contractor management Contractor payroll Cellular management managing all cellular and data contracts pertaining to the Organization albeit day to day operations and queries, monthly billings and management reports.
