Strategic Project Actuary
Positions in Sandton, Gauteng and Cape Town
Scope project work, develop project plans and prepare documentation for meetings with senior stakeholders.
Liaise with relevant stakeholders (e.g. the Central Actuarial Reporting, Risk and Capital as well as Segment actuarial teams) regarding their inputs into the project deliverables.
Perform actuarial calculations and write documents required for the various projects. This will involve to understanding the different bases, and will require in-depth technical knowledge of actuarial reporting (e.
g. MCEV, PS, capital allocation etc.).
Assist in the development of a value reporting framework.
Other support as required from projects from time to time.
Relationship management will also be an important aspect of the roles. Work with a range of senior stakeholders and responsible for managing relationships within the team and also with key stakeholders across the Group.
Contribute to other strategic projects and initiatives, beyond IFRS 17.
Qualified or close to qualifying Actuary
6 years actuarial experience.
The role will suit balanced individuals with sound technical knowledge, an aptitude for commercial and innovative thinking and the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
Technical experience of IFRS 17 or similar (e.g. SAM, EV, capital allocation etc.) is important, as is an ability to understand and explain differences between reporting bases.
Experience of financial modelling will be a particular advantage (e.g. Prophet or other actuarial systems as well as database and workflow infrastructure).
Previous cross-functional co-ordination and / or client relationship management experience would be a strong advantage.
