P URPOSE OF ROLE :
The primary objective of this position is to ensure that all aspects for the client wages payroll are processed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with Governance processes and legislative requirements.
The Payroll accountant is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day payroll operations, including payroll reporting, payroll system administration and payroll accounting.
RESPONSIBILITIES : PAYROLL
Collate all payroll data from all the departments, check and validate data for correctness and authorization by departmental heads.
Perform reasonable calculations of time sheets, making sure that hours are calculated correctly, and the job costing allocations are accurate.
Process and record payroll changes including new hire and termination paperwork, personnel data changes.
Provide full function payroll administration service to all companies and the employees.
Process leave, this will include Annual, Sick, Family responsibility and unpaid leave.
Process all deductions on payroll both recurring deductions and Sundry deductions (garnishee orders etc.)
Request statements from 3
party creditors and ensure that the correct contributions are deducted and process cancellations of Medical aid and other benefits timeously.
Reconcile payrolls before locking and provide the exemption hours report to the various division to verify and confirm hours
Assist and support when needed with month end procedures.
Print, fold and distribute pay slips and IRP5s
Assist employees with payroll and system related queries, resolve timeously.
Prepare the payroll journals to be processed into SAP, ensure timely process of the journal
Perform and analyse monthly employee headcounts.
Reconcile the SAP general ledger accounts to the to Sage payroll reports, monthly
Maintain file of the EMP201 and reconcile to the statement of accounts monthly

EDUCATION / SKILLS
A minimum of an Accounting Degree qualification is required.
Must have a basic understanding of payroll accounting concepts.
Knowledge of SAGE 300 people systems would be an advantage
