School of Education Academic : Geography Teaching Specialisation CORE PURPOSE To provide coordinate, provide academic leadership and to facilitate learning within the Geography Specialisation.

CORE FUNCTIONSTo facilitate both face to face and online lecturesProvide students one on one academic consultation for supportDesign both formative and summative assessmentsReview and moderate curriculum and assessmentsGrade assessments and provide stakeholder feedbackPotentially serve as a Programme Coordinator / Module CoordinatorUndertake programme and module reviewsActive involvement in research and publishingSupervise postgraduate researchIdentify students at-risk and execute constant pastoral careUndertake programme and quality management administrative tasks as requiredServe as subject matter expert (SME) in the Geography Specialisation for content resource developmentJob Requirements : MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTSA Masters Degree in the specialisation area : Geography Education.

A Phd is preferred.At least 2 / 3 years lecturing experience; lecturing GeographySchool based experience, teaching CAPSDemonstrate research interest and engagement over last 3 yearsRELATED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLSBe familiar with distance and online educationBe familiar with using learning management systemsHave a working knowledge of the South African higher education regulatory frameworkMust be able to work within pre-determined time frames and deadlinesMust be able to speak confidently and demonstrate professionalismMust be a collegial team playerProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, Internet and Email)Excellent writing and reporting skillsPossess a high level of ethics and confidentiality
