CBI Electric Low Voltage is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanical Design Technician to join their dynamic team.

Minimum Requirements...

The applicant should have at least the following qualifications, skills and experience :

  • B Tech. (Mechanical) or equivalent
  • Ideally the incumbent will have 3-year experience in a technical area
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems is advantageous
  • Attributes

  • Work independently or in a team
  • Verbally and in writing communicate on projects
  • Advantageous :

  • Knowledgeable in the safe use of mechanical and / or electrical equipment or systems
  • Familiar with the principles and discipline of project management
  • Responsibilities

    The work andresponsibilities associated with the position may involve inter alia thevarious engineering disciplines employed to test and document designs ofcircuit breakers, earth leakage devices and related electrical protection andmetering products

  • Test and evaluate precision mechanical and electro-mechanical products, subsystems or components.
  • Execution of work is to be performed on state of the art Computer Aided Design
  • Drafting of components, sub-assemblies, assemblies and material specifications.
  • Participate in failure diagnostics processes as required for customer and product support Analysis of test results and where necessary failure analysis
  • Applying best practice methods and procedures for testing mechanical components or sub-systems
  • General understanding of the manufacturing and production processes
  • Application of measurement uncertainty calculations where appropriate or required
  • Establish best methods, practices and processes required to achieve the required reproducibility and repeatability in manufacturing CBI products.
  • Responsible for regular maintenance and technical audit inspections of equipment and facilities used in the department.
