My client in the cable manufacturing industry is looking for a Cable Designer to join their team in Port Elizabeth. Applicants in the area will be given preference.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following : - Assist with all Site related enquiries and tenders received via the COA process including creation and maintenance of designs, drawings and technical details.
Liaise with the Commercial Department in order to finalise and submit costing on products - Work closely with the Commercial and Marketing departments in order to ensure timeous response on tenders and enquiries.
Ensure the relevant authorisations are done in accordance with official procedures (Experimental orders, Cable designs, Technical Details etc.
Ensure the internal and external specifications are adhered to. - Ensure that tenders, contracts or orders comply fully with specifications.
Review and analyse factory processes in line with best Cable Design philosophy / practice - Maintain the Site Cable Design manual, design system user manuals as well as the creation of design aids as required.
Compile, analyse and present various statistics / metrics, which are key indicators of cable design techniques. - Perform all relevant SAP transactions as per allocated SAP role / s and to ensure data integrity and discipline at all times.
Material Masters, Routings, BOM's, Work centres, SAP IDOCs) - Maintain files and records of varying nature, according to an established system.
Ensure that all new orders are transferred to and maintained in SAP. - Maintain close co-operation with Site Manufacturing departments on all problems which may affect product design and performance.
Provide Technical support to all service and production departments, including quality related items contained in works instructions when required in support of the Site Technical Departments.
Provide support to the Technology Development function by the creation of designs, data sheets, costing, etc., as well as material and product laboratory testing in aid of product development when required in support of Site Technical Department.
Support the Site Technical department as required. - Ensure that the Specification review process is carried out effectively and recommendations made accordingly -
Assist the other cable design departments across the sites, with enquiries, tenders, design and technical information related to those sites of manufacture, as may be required.

line with the role / function NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS : - A post graduate qualification (NTC6 / S4), preferably in Electrical Engineering, however other Engineering or Manufacturing related disciplines will be considered.
Previous experience in a cable design or cable manufacturing environment - Ability to work under pressure to meet defined deadlines.
Computer literate with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office - Exposure to the SAP system - Good administration and organizational skills -
