The UCT English Language Centre is a professional development unit within the Faculty of Humanities delivering English as a Foreign Language short courses to international students.
We are seeking a Programme Coordinator (EFL) with responsibility for the implementation and administration of all aspects of the English as a Foreign Language academic programme, including management of the teaching team and their performance.
This is a full time, permanent post. Requirements : Cambridge DELTA / DELTM, Trinity Dip TESOL, or MA in TESOL / ELT or related area.
At least five years’ experience in the English as a Foreign Language sector including EFL teaching experience. At least two years’ experience of academic management in the English as a Foreign Language sector, including managing a significant staff complement Demonstrated ability to innovate and lead projects independently Demonstrated ability to support teachers’ continuing professional development Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to contribute to a positive and motivating environment for staff and students on the programme A very high level of computer literacy including proficiency in Office suite The following would be an advantage : Experience of EFL in both private sector and university environments Ability to speak at least one foreign language Competence with Google Classroom and related G-Suite products Responsibilities : Staff management of the teaching team, including teacher recruitment and continuing professional development.
