A well-established Polymer distribution company, focused on supplying leading brands of Polymers to the South African market requires the above to manage foreign supplier relationships, ordering of material, costing of materials and managing stock levels for grades.

Minimum requirements for the role :

  • Minimum matric.
  • A tertiary education in Supply Chain and Logistics or related within the chemical and related markets is preferred.
  • Previous international procuring experience would be preferred.
  • Must have a good understanding of all INCO terms.
  • Needs to understand costing on products.
  • Strong administration skills with an eye for detail.
  • Intermediate Excel skills are essential.
  • Pastel experience would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Managing supplier relationships, liaising with foreign based suppliers, enquiring on pricing and stock availability and negotiating pricing.
  • Managing stock levels by updating Sales vs. Orders documents with purchase orders and shipping information, forecast information, ETA (estimate time of arrival) information and analysing the Sales vs.
  • Orders to determine re-ordering levels.

  • Managing stock levels to identify grades that will be overstocked based on holding targets.
  • Managing special grade deals by preparing sales contacts for one-grade to one-customer supplies and confirming credit limits are in place.
  • Ordering materials and ensuring that all purchase orders are authorized as per the company policy and create LC’s when required.
  • Authorising and checking certificates of analysis, suppliers information (orders and LC’s) and correspond between shipping and suppliers.
  • Prepare documents and clearing instructions for freight forwarding and marine insurance if requires.
  • Tracking shipments by assessing shipment dates and communicating late or early shipment to sales and LC’s.
  • Calculating cost prices of materials.
  • Preparing Order Authorization request and summarize all the relevant information which will enable management to make an informed decision on whether the material should be ordered.
  • Salary is highly negotiable depending on your experience.
